Print & Quality

Every poster we sell is produced to the same standard used by professional art galleries. That is not a marketing claim — it is a requirement we place on ourselves. This page explains exactly what that means, and why it matters for you.

Museum-Grade Giclée Printing

Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay") is a printing technique originally developed to reproduce artworks with absolute colour accuracy. Today it is the standard used by galleries, museums and collectors worldwide when nothing less than perfect will do.

The process applies extremely fine ink droplets with high precision onto the paper — producing detail sharpness and colour depth that offset printing and standard digital prints cannot match. The colour range is wider, gradients are smoother, and detail is preserved down to the pixel level.

Every poster at Framzio is produced using the giclée method. It is the only print process we offer — not as a premium add-on, but as our standard.

Archival Fine Art Paper — 230 g/m²

The paper matters as much as the print. We use archival fine art paper at 230 g/m² — a thick, textured paper with a matte surface and a physical presence that standard photo paper simply cannot provide.

Archival means the paper is acid-free and treated to resist degradation over time. Colours stay accurate, details stay sharp, and the paper retains its structure — not for years, but for decades. It is the same specification used to preserve original print artworks in museum archives.

  • 230 g/m² — substantial weight that gives the paper a clear physical presence and stability
  • Textured matte surface — artistic depth without glare or plastic-like sheen
  • Acid-free and archival — resists yellowing, cracking and colour shift over time
  • Neutral white base — pure white background that preserves accurate contrast throughout the motif

Handmade Italian Frames

Our frames are handmade in Italy by a family-owned manufacturer with a long tradition of quality craftsmanship. Every frame is built to last decades — not just a few years.

The frames come with premium plexiglass rather than standard glass. The plexiglass is UV-filtering, which protects the print against fading from sunlight, and it is lighter and more durable than conventional glass — an important difference if the poster hangs high up or in a room with direct natural light.

  • Handmade in Italy — careful craftsmanship, not factory-produced
  • Premium plexiglass — UV-filtering, lightweight and impact-resistant
  • Available in black and white — both finishes pair perfectly with archival fine art paper
  • Easy to hang — the frame arrives with the poster already inside, ready to go up on the wall

Made to Order — No Compromise on Quality

We never produce posters in advance and hold no pre-printed stock. Every poster is produced when you order it. That means you always receive a fresh production run — not a copy that has been sitting in a warehouse for months.

Print on demand is not a cost-saving measure on our side — it is a quality guarantee on yours. A poster that has just left the press is always in better condition than one that has been handled repeatedly through a distribution warehouse.

Why It Matters — Quality Against Price

Cheaper posters exist. They are printed on thin photo paper, with a limited colour range and no archival treatment. They look acceptable in the first year or two. Then they fade, yellow and warp.

A giclée print on 230 g/m² archival paper is not only more beautiful from day one — it is an investment that retains its value. A poster that lasts 50 years always costs less in the long run than three cheap replacements bought over the same period.
